Our Programme

Growing competent and Confident learners

We strive to help children “grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society” (Te Whariki, Ministry of Education, 2017).

Te Ruma Iti

Te Ruma Iti is a learning space which caters to tamariki wanting to explore their quieter pursuits. This natural, creative environment away from the hustle and bustle is a calm and peaceful space.

With beautiful plants gently draping the ceiling and walls, the learner can enjoy a story on the couch, explore the arts through a variety of media and develop learning theories about how our world works and their place within it.

This environment is thoughtfully designed to invite the learner to let their imagination run wild, through the arts, dramatic play, and a variety of natural and beautiful open-ended resources. Our deep connection to Papatuānuku offers opportunities to use their senses to explore the world around them.

Te Ruma Nui

Te Ruma Nui is a learning space that reflects the interests and ideas of our tamariki and provides carefully selected resources that invite them to explore with engagement and discovery in mind.

Our commitment to natural and sustainable resources, small groups size and high Kaiako to tamariki ratios offers authentic opportunities to build deep relationships and plan our programme guided by the interests of our tamariki.

Resources in Te Ruma Nui are suited to a learner that has a thirst for knowledge, honing their skills and strategies around cause and effect, problem solving, creating, building, imagination, scientific knowledge and the most important driver of all, play.

To play, explore and discover with your friends is where those most important learning of all occurs. It is truly a magic place to be.
